What To Know For Cambodia e-Arrival - Mandatory From July 2024

Although first announced in late 2023 and available since the start of 2024, the Cambodia e-Arrival system will be introduced as a mandatory requirement for all air travellers from 1 July 2024 entering the Kingdom of Cambodia. We look at the key information and steps you need to know.

What Is The Cambodia e-Arrival System?

Cambodia announced the use of the trial "e-Arrival Card" scheme for all travellers to the country starting on January 1, 2024, with the online system confirmed by the Cambodian government during the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF).

With the availability of the e-Arrival system for nearly six months, it was confirmed completing the e-Arrival Card system from 1 July 2024, for arriving air travellers flying into Cambodia would become a mandatory e-immigration procedure to help streamline the arrival process.

It is surprising to see so many express surprise at the decision as the information and system have been available for some time, and the introduction is designed to make the entrance process easier for travellers arriving in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The CeA replaces the;

  • Paper immigration form;
  • Health form;
  • Customs Declaration;

by providing all of these under one single online application or via the app. This online system follows in the footsteps of regional neighbours, Thailand and Vietnam, who introduced different e-Visa programs in 2023.

What To Do - Cambodia e-Arrival System

It should be noted that visas are still required and can be obtained in advance or on arrival and the Fast Track Visa service remains available, but this e-immigration process is still mandatory.

The system is separated into a Foreign Visitor and Cambodian Citizen category and for the former, there are options for completing individual and group submissions. The app also includes a Q&A section and tutorial videos.

These are the steps to know:

  1. Complete and register on the digital application via a dedicated app (available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store) or via the website within 7 days before arrival.
  2. Registration requires uploading a photo and passport information.*
  3. Take a screenshot or download your QR code before closing or exiting the e-Arrival Card website. If you use the mobile application, the QR Code will be available after successful submission even without an internet connection.
  4. Present your QR code at immigration.
  5. The registration is free so no fees for the e-immigration are required (this is separate from the visa)

*You may still edit your information and resubmit your e-Arrival Card, as long as you have not been processed by Immigration Officers.

If arriving at the international airports in Cambodia, and the e-Arrival has not been completed, tablets are said to be provided in the arrivals hall and immigration officers will assist with the e-immigration process.
