VDB Loi, one of the leading law firms in Cambodia, has announced its rebranding as Andersen in Cambodia and Vietnam, a brand name under Andersen Global, an international association of legally separate, independent member firms comprised of tax, legal, and valuation professionals around the world.

The rebranding was officially unveiled at the joint EuroCham and AmCham ‘Cambodia Tax Forum 2024’, held under the presidency of H.E. Kong Vibol, Director General of Cambodia’s General Department of Taxation (GDT), on September 18, 2024.

Speaking during the forum, Jean Loi, co-founder of VDB Loi, stated that the firm has concluded a strategic arrangement with the global network Andersen Global, a fast-growing network with 475 offices and 17,000 professionals worldwide.

Loi stated, “I believe that as part of this Andersen network, we will be able to serve all of you better because we will be able to offer much more extensive services, including legal, tax, and consulting, as well as a bigger platform for our team to work on more global projects.”

She further added, “In the last 12 years, [VDB Loi] has been working extremely hard, and we are very proud that we actually started in Cambodia. From Cambodia, we built our offices in Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Indonesia, and in the last two years, we also set up our office in Bangladesh.”

According to Loi, VDB Loi currently has more than 200 professionals and 15 local partners. “I think it is now time for us to move to the next level, to make ourselves an international firm, and not just a local firm in the region,” she added.

H.E. Kong Vibol, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, congratulated VDB Loi after more than a decade of operation with the support of the GDT, and they can now even better support and advise clients on tax issues in Cambodia.

“On behalf of the GDT, I would like to congratulate VDB Loi for becoming the internationally known firm, Andersen. This shows that the GDT will have a good partner in terms of improving tax implementation, and I hope that we can continue our dialogue for the better serving of taxpayers,” Vibol said.

Mark L. Vorsatz, Global Chairman and CEO of Andersen, stated, “This group’s unwavering dedication to excellence and stewardship not only secures their position in the market but also strategically positions our organisation for continued expansion throughout Southeast Asia.”

Laysym Sim, Tax Partner at VDB Loi, told B2B Cambodia that by joining the Andersen network, they aim to support their customers here with more than just tax and legal services, but also consulting on transfer pricing and investment in Cambodia and the region.

“We still have some negotiations with the other offices that will operate under the Andersen network. That's perhaps another step moving forward,” he emphasised.

VDB Loi was founded in 2012 by Edwin Vanderbruggen and Jean Loi in Cambodia and opened its office in Vietnam in 2013. Since then, VDB Loi has expanded to include more offices in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Laos, and Myanmar.
