Türkiye-Cambodia Flights To Begin In December 2025

Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s flag carrier, will begin flights between Istanbul and Phnom Penh, on December 10, 2025. These new flights are expected to enhance trade relations, tourism and diplomatic ties between Türkiye and Cambodia.

The announcement of the new route was made by Turkish Airlines (THY) on March 3, 2025, becoming the airline's seventh Southeast Asian destination, with Phnom Penh also as the 11th city added to its flight network.

The approximately 13-hour flight will be operated three times per week, with the Istanbul to Phnom Penh route offered on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and the return from Phnom Penh to Istanbul available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight route includes a layover in Bangkok.

Cambodian travelers will now have a new route of access to Europe, the Middle East, and North America via Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul hub – one of the world’s most well-connected airports. The route is also poised to support Cambodia’s economic development, making it easier for international businesses, investors, and tourists to access the country.

Ahmet Bolat, Chairperson of Turkish Airlines’ board of directors and executive committee, stated in the official announcement that the airline is continually expanding its flight network in Asia.

“The Phnom Penh flights will be an important step that carries this goal even further. Our flights to Cambodia will bring new opportunities for both tourism and the business world,” he said.

As Cambodia works towards its tourism recovery, new flight routes continue to be introduced, including from Emirates Airlines who recently announced new flights between Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Siem Reap province – expected to start in June 2025 – as well as daily return flights between Dubai and Phnom Penh.

Boosting Türkiye-Cambodia Trade Relations And Diplomatic Ties

Previously, in April 2024, former Cambodian Prime Minister and current Senate President, Hun Sen, met with Ülkü Kocaefe, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Cambodia, to discuss a number of bilateral matters, including Turkish Airlines' plans to expand flights to Cambodia.

This meeting was followed  by a visit to Türkiye by Cambodia’s foreign minister in May 2024, during which the two countries agreed to increase bilateral trade with an annual target of USD 1 billion, up from USD 238 million in 2023.

The third round of the Türkiye-Cambodia Joint Economic Commission (JEC) was also held in Phnom Penh in 2023. According to Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there is currently no Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Türkiye and Cambodia, however, exploratory talks continue regarding the signing of a Preferential Trade Agreement.

Türkiye’s Commercial Counsellor’s Office was also established within the Turkish Embassy in Phnom Penh in April 2023.
