The Significance Of Metfone's Humanitarian Blood Donation Program "A Drop of Blood – A Million Hearts"
On the morning of September 28, 2024, Metfone, in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Centre, organised the 2024 Humanitarian Blood Donation Program in Phnom Penh with the message “A Drop of Blood – A Million Hearts”.
During the event, hundreds of Metfone employees, partners, and customers participated in a blood donation drive. Volunteers were divided into separate groups and assigned different time slots to ensure the blood donation process was well-organised. The donation site was divided into several areas: a station offering sugary tea to replenish energy for donors, a health check area before the blood donation, a blood donation area, and a post-donation health monitoring section.
In his speech at the event, Nhong Dinthan, Vice General Director of Metfone, emphasised that voluntary blood donation is a noble act reflecting each individual’s responsibility to the community. He encouraged Metfone staff, with their high sense of humanitarianism, to continue participating in voluntary blood donations whenever possible, contributing to the reserve of blood for emergency and treatment purposes. He also expressed hope that the Humanitarian Blood Donation program and its message "A Drop of Blood – A Million Hearts" would spread even further.
The donated blood will be preserved and used effectively by the National Blood Transfusion Centre, helping to meet the need for blood for emergency care and patient treatment.
In recent years, alongside its business activities, Metfone has always been a pioneer in implementing social initiatives for the community. It is expected that in the near future, Metfone will continue to promote the voluntary blood donation movement and organise other charitable activities to foster solidarity, sharing, and responsibility towards the Cambodian community and society.
