Lotus Academy is a new adult learning institution in Cambodia focused on transforming lives through education, reskilling, and upskilling in technology.
In an exclusive interview with B2B Cambodia, Andy Ng, CEO of Lotus Academy Co., Ltd and CCO of NEST (New Economy Skills of Tomorrow) Institute in Singapore, details the work Lotus Academy is doing to provide technology skills training to professionals in Cambodia.
Lotus Academy’s Founding
Before working in the education sector, Ng was involved in business consultancy and recruitment for 10 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he witnessed a lot of changes, like companies being forced to downsize. Many retrenched workers have also remained unemployed for extended periods because they lacked the skills required for the new digital era.
“Lotus Academy was founded to address this critical need by providing accessible quality education to meet the market demand,” said Ng.
We collaborate with a lot of industry experts or trainers to design and offer programs for practical application, and we aim to empower the individuals with knowledge and confidence. We are not just here to close the skill gap, we are talking about transforming lives. Through education, we aim to be able to enable personal growth, economic stability and long-term success.
Addressing Market Demand For Technology Skills
Ng shared that Lotus Academy’s courses are designed to suit industry needs, especially for beginners who do not have an existing foundation in technology.
“We have courses for them to adapt and learn technology at the foundational level, and for those who are looking to advance their career in technology, we will have certificate courses as well as advanced certificate courses on offer,” he explained.
Trainers at the academy hail from Singapore and are experts in their respective technological fields, and include those who have worked as university professors.
The courses offered at Lotus Academy are also those which have been delivered in other countries like Singapore and Malaysia, so are recognised by respected organisations like SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDCorp) in Malaysia, and the Skills Development Fund (SDF) in Cambodia.
This recognition, Ng stressed, assures Lotus Academy learners that they are receiving high-quality programs that meet industry standards and provide certifications valued by employers.
Lotus Academy’s Future Goals in Cambodia
In the long-run, Lotus Academy aims to become the leading technology education provider in Cambodia.
“We also plan to expand our digital and hybrid learning model so that we can make education more accessible to rural areas in Cambodia, and we will continue to offer lifelong learning opportunities to help individuals stay competitive in this tech driven world,” Ng concluded.
