Singapore Medical Concierge Officially Enters Cambodian Market

The Singapore Medical Concierge (SMC) officially entered the Cambodian healthcare market in March 2024 with a ceremony in Phnom Penh, promising to help Singapore and Cambodia collaborate on improving healthcare and fostering innovation. 

The official launch was held at a Health & Wellness Fair at the Olympia Medical Hub in the Cambodian capital on March 1st 2024. The official inauguration saw guests include H.E. Teo Lay Cheng (Singapore Ambassador to Cambodia), Mr. Ryan Ong Jia Ming, Ms Michelle Lim (Chief Operating Officer from the Singapore health sector - Royal Healthcare Medical Centre), Mr. Tommy Lim, and Dr. Michael Lim (Medical Director of Royal Healthcare Medical Centre) conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony. 

Singapore Medical Concierge says it, "provides a one-stop solution for medical appointments, travel arrangements, and concierge services". This collaboration between Singapore and Cambodia aims to improve healthcare services and drive innovation in the medical field, benefiting the people of both nations, with the SMC seeing this as a "revolutionising healthcare partnership." Ms. Michelle Lim discussed invaluable insights on the transformative potential that this partnership holds in advancing healthcare in Cambodia. 

Dr. Michael Lim spoke about the impacts of stroke and heart disease prevention and about improving health. They both also underscored the partnership's potential to enhance healthcare delivery in Cambodia. The Cambodian healthcare market is comprised of public health facilities, private clinics and hospitals, as well as professional medical service providers, and pharmacies. Singapore Medical Concierge Officially Enters Cambodian MarketCambodia’s Strategic Health Plan 2016-2020 reported that there were approximately 1,000 public healthcare facilities and 8,000 private healthcare providers across the Kingdom. According to some reports, by 2021, Cambodia had over 3,000 registered pharmacies, 590 drug import/export companies and branches, and 15 medical manufacturing institutions.

  • Over recent years, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has tried to broaden its services available to members - extending access to healthcare benefits for family members and dependents.
  • The National Policy and National Strategic Plan for Migrant Health 2022–2030 was the first such initiative launched in Cambodia at the end of 2023.
  • The Mental Health Strategic Plan 2023–2032 was also launched in late 2023 to encourage relevant institutions to promote mental health and prevent mental illness.
