Shangri-La Phnom Penh Soft Opens In December 2024
Shangri-La Phnom Penh finally is soft opening in December 2024, officially marking the Shangri-La Group’s debut in Cambodia. The luxury waterfront landmark hotel will start welcoming guests on 28 December 2024 with all of the amenities to be completed over the coming months.
A soft opening ceremony on December 16., 2024, was attended by His Excellency HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Neak Oknha Sear Rithy, Chairman of WorldBridge Group and Mr. Ching Chiat Kwong, Executive Chairman and CEO of Oxley Group.
Ody Odayappan, General Manager, Shangri-La Phnom Penh said: “We are delighted to mark the soft opening of Shangri-La Phnom Penh, a milestone that reflects both the city's dynamic growth and Cambodia’s growing tourism sector. This hotel is a testament to our commitment to blending modern sophistication with the rich cultural heritage of Cambodia.

Shangri-La Phnom Penh - Another Key Asset For Phnom Penh's Tourism
Shangri-La Phnom Penh is part of one of the tallest tri-tower architectural structures in the Cambodian capital and reaches 228 metres high. The hotel has a Khmer-inspired design and in total offers 303 rooms with panoramic river views of the confluence of the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Tonle Bassac rivers, dining experiences featuring local and international cuisine, and facilities including a large ballroom, infinity pool, and spa.
A press release on the soft launch says that “the development will be one of the key drivers of Phnom Penh’s tourism and business growth, enhancing the city’s appeal to both international visitors and local business professionals.”
In terms of the Shangri-La Phnom Penh design, the hotel’s interior aesthetics are a "harmonious blend of Art Deco, Neo-Classical, and Khmer cultural elements, while the room interiors feature wood accents, natural stones, and natural daylight from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Shangri-La Phnom Penh offers one of Phnom Penh's largest ballrooms (Angkor Grand Ballroom) and is targeting being a premier venue for major events, conferences, and social gatherings, while The Atelier (the onsite flower shop) is also available.
The infinity pool and spa wellness centre are due to open in the months ahead, a statement added.
Dining At Shangri-La Phnom Penh
Shangri-La Phnom Penh will highlight Cambodia’s rich local heritage, and focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
- Kommune Dining & Social Space - Offer guests a chance to sample authentic Khmer flavours with classic dishes like Beef Lok Lak and Fish Amok providing an immersive dining experience on the 48th floor.
- Mekong Lounge - Located on the 49th floor offering crafted beverages and snacks.
- Shang Palace - Shangri-La Group’s signature Chinese restaurant serves authentic Chinese cuisine including the signature Peking Duck (due to open in 2025)
- Altitude - The rooftop bar is a lively space offering sunset views, cocktails, and light bites (due to open in 2025)
As part of the phase one opening from 28 December 2024, a select number of guest rooms will be available for booking and dining in Kommune Dining & Social Space, Mekong Lounge and The Atelier will be available.
