The Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), in collaboration with Royal Group Securities Plc., (RGS) and with the support of the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX), organised the third seminar on promoting securities trading on “Long Term Investment in Securities Market” for civil servants of ministries and government institutions in Cambodia.

The seminar was presided over by H.E. Sou Socheat, Director General of the SERC, along with H.E. Seang Thirith, Deputy Director General of the SERC and Seng Chan Thoeun, CEO of RGS. Approximately 100 participants attended the seminar, including the management and officials of five ministries and government institutions, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), and Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC).

The SERC is the regulatory authority overseeing Cambodia's securities sector, with a primary focus on protecting investors legitimate interests, while also promoting securities trading and preventing the attraction of scams. The SERC has consistently conducted awareness campaigns for the public by hosting seminars, training programs, and dissemination programs on the securities sector across the capital and provinces.

The “Long Term Investment in Securities Market” seminar aimed to introduce the fundamentals of the securities sector, equip participants to become securities investors, and share a brief investment strategy. Attendees are encouraged to consider the securities market as a new investment option, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical trading experience in the Cambodia securities market through the CSX Trade application.

“If we all work together to develop the securities sector, we will all benefit from it," said H.E. Sou Socheat, in his opening remarks.

He emphasised that the securities sector is an additional option for increasing income. Currently, there are 25 listed companies, and soon a new company, Picasso City Garden, a real estate company, is preparing to list its securities on the CSX.

“Therefore, we should actively consider purchasing securities or following the listing of these securities during the IPO stage in order to understand the benefits gained and to build personal investment experience for the future,” he added.

In his welcome remarks, Seng Chan Thoeun, stated, "There are various ways to save, including earning interest from banks, investing in real estate, and trading securities. Investors have the opportunity to save while also generating additional income through their investments. Thus, the securities market is crucial as it provides the public with the means to engage in trading and enables swift, safe, and efficient capital transfer.”

The seminar also featured presentations by speakers from the SERC, the CSX, and RGS, all of whom have many years of experience in the securities sector. At the same time, the seminar included a discussion forum, during which H.E. Kep Samphy shared that, when investing in the securities sector, investors need to develop a strategy and consider investing periodically by examining companies that are issuing securities for the first time. Investing early in such companies can offer the potential to earn profits of up to 150 per cent.

All participants actively took part in Q&A sessions with the speakers and engaged in actual stock trading through the CSX Trade application after promptly receiving investor ID numbers and trading accounts.
