Securities And Exchange Regulator Of Cambodia Attends 40th ASEAN+3 Bond Market Forum Meeting
On July 10, 2024, H.E. Sou Socheat, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), provided a keynote address at the 40th ASEAN+3 Bond Market Forum (ABMF) Meeting held in Kumamoto, Japan, on the topic of corporate bond and sustainable bond market development in Cambodia.
In his address, Socheat spoke about the evolution of the Cambodian securities market, the achievements and direction taken by the SERC to contribute to the development of the sustainable finance market, and the ongoing promotion and development of the corporate bond market in Cambodia.
“Despite the nascent stage of the corporate and sustainable bond market in Cambodia, as the sole securities market regulator in Cambodia, the SERC has committed to promoting the development of the securities market, in alignment with regional and international standards and following regional trends to ensure that Cambodia's securities market operates transparently, orderly and with good governance, providing confidence to both local and international investors to invest in Cambodia's securities market,” stated Socheat.
The 40th ABMF, co-organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Kumamoto Gakuen University (KGU), Kumamoto International Convention and Tourism Bureau (KICB), eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), and the Sustainable Finance Institute Asia (SFIA), is intended to monitor the progress and development of bond markets in ASEAN+3 member countries, particularly in the context of growing trends toward sustainable finance and digital assets. The forum is being held from July 8-12, 2024.
The SERC Director General is leading H.E. Seang Thirith, Deputy Director General of the SERC, and other colleagues to join the ABMF and related events from July 8-12, 2024.
