Prince Horology School opens in Phnom Penh

Prince Horology, which is claiming to be the first watchmaking school in Cambodia, has opened in Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh, and is supported by the Prince Real Estate Group.

The specialist Prince Horology School says they "offer specialised vocational training programs for those who wish to become professional watchmakers." According to a report in the Khmer Times, the "pair of former watchmakers, both Switzerland Training and Educational Programme members, will lead a team of renowned instructors and will provide two-year courses at the school." The schools claim its specialised watchmaking program is a "rigorous two-year, full-time course."  Students learn theoretical and practical skills including chronometry and the art of watch adjustment and hand finishing techniques. Students that complete the course will obtain a watchmaking certificate which Prince says will be "reflect internationally recognised standards." Cambodian students will pay $2,500 for the two-year course and the school aims to provide scholarships to some students. Foreign students are charged $15,000. The classes will start in June 2020.

Who are the Prince Charitable Organization?

The Prince Charitable Organization was created by the Prince Real Estate Group Co. Ltd whose portfolio spans real estate, infrastructure, logistics, internet, finance, air transport and agriculture. According to the organisation, "a key philosophy of the group is 'building a better life for all' and they are financing vocational education is a progression of their already charity work in Cambodia.
