Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), a diversified local investment and development conglomerate, and Ezesoft, Cambodia’s leading digital solutions and services provider, announced a strategic partnership to launch WiFiX, Cambodia’s first large-scale public WiFi zone. WiFiX will debut at Norea City, providing free, secure, 24/7 internet access for all. The agreement was signed by Luis Chen, Executive Vice President of OCIC, and Yap Kok Leong, Chief Executive Officer of Ezesoft.

Designed to empower a new digital lifestyle, WiFiX enables Cambodians to stay connected anytime, anywhere, supporting learning, creativity, entrepreneurship, and daily online needs. The service complements paid mobile internet offerings from Cambodia’s leading mobile operators, including Cellcard, extending seamless connectivity across public spaces.

Norea City as a mixed-use urban development integrates residential, commercial, lifestyle, and public spaces. Key destinations including Norea Parkway, Riverlight, and Coconut Park Koh Norea collectively welcome 4,000 to 7,000 visitors on weekdays, rising to 8,000 to 15,000 on weekends, and reaching up to 10,000 to 30,000 visitors during special holidays, reflecting continuous activity throughout the day and week. Supported by a high-speed fibre-optic backbone, WiFiX is integrated into the public realm to provide reliable connectivity and wider digital access for everyday use.

“This partnership between OCIC and Ezesoft marks an important step in our journey to transform Norea City into a Smart City. By investing in digital infrastructure and planning for future 5G development, we are laying the foundation for sustainable growth, stronger investor confidence, and a digitally empowered future,” said Luis Chen, Executive Vice President of OCIC.

Launched under the theme “Better Together”, the partnership brings together two Cambodian-owned companies to collaborate on a practical digital initiative with public benefit. WiFiX reflects a shared commitment to improving connectivity and access, supporting everyday use by communities as Cambodia continues its digital transformation.

“True digital sovereignty is built on resilient infrastructure,” said Yap Kok Leong, CEO of Ezesoft. “Launching WiFiX during challenging times sends a clear message: Cambodia’s digital journey is unstoppable. Together with OCIC, we are providing a secure, high-speed gateway that keeps citizens connected, informed and productive.”

The deployment of WiFiX enhances safety, inclusion, and convenience within public spaces, reinforcing Norea City’s role as an active urban district for commerce, lifestyle, and everyday community use.
