Monitoring and Automation of Banking Operations – Interview with Zsolt Godry, Managing Director at ABRIS
Monitoring and Automation of Banking Operations – Interview with Zsolt Godry, Managing Director at ABRIS./B2B Cambodia.

Founded in 2009 in Budapest, Hungary, ABRIS has been a technology partner to Temenos – a company specialising in enterprise software for banks and financial services – for over 15 years, providing software development, implementation, and support for Temenos core and on-line platforms.

B2B Cambodia sat down with Zsolt Godry, Managing Director at ABRIS, to learn more about how his company is providing solutions for the monitoring and automation of banking operations, as ABRIS continues to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

While ABRIS itself is not yet present in Cambodia, the company is looking to enter the market soon following in Temenos’ footsteps. Godry arrived in the country for a Temenos Connect event hosted at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal on March 13, 2025. Currently, more than 20 banks and microfinance institutions in the Kingdom utilise the Temenos banking platform.

“We have been working with Temenos in the far east for the last couple of years, and we also have local partners who are helping us enter the Cambodian market,” Godry explained.

“We have two tools that are helping in the operation of Temenos products, Temenos Transact (T24), Temanos payment hub, and financial inclusion,” he added. “Since we have so much experience with Temenos, we have gained a lot of knowledge, and we know what to look for in the monitoring perspective and what to automate from the operational perspective.”

The digitalisation that all the banks are going through currently, they need an up-to-date monitoring and alerting system in their core banking operation. If they have any issues during the day or during close of business, they need to be alerted immediately because, right now, customers require 24/7 availability of their banking applications. This is what we focus on, to alert banks if there is any fallout or problems during operations, and to resolve the issue as soon as possible, this is our bread and butter.

Transitioning From Legacy Banking Systems To Digital Infrastructure

As banking institutions go through digitalisation and make the switch from their legacy core systems to more modern ones, Godry assured that ABRIS solutions are still capable of working with older Temenos models as far back as 2008 to ensure a smooth transition process.

“Our application, Gamma, that looks after the operation of Temenos Transact, is capable of working with older Temenos versions back to R8, which is the version from 2008, all the way up to the very new versions,” he said.

This means that [our application works on] different kinds of application frameworks… whether it’s C or Java, and it can also work on different kinds of databases that Temenos is running on, such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or anything else.

“Also, operating system wise, we are flexible, so we help all clients running on Temenos stack, whether they are set up with older versions of Temenos or newer versions of Temenos. We make sure that they have a smooth transition, even if they are upgrading their Temenos stack to a newer, digitalised version,” Godry added.

Banking Modernisation Trends in the Asia-Pacific and Beyond

In addition to rapid digitalisation seen across the globe’s banks and financial institutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of the latest new trends Godry has observed emerging include the adoption of cloud, microservices and artificial intelligence (AI).

“Everybody is moving towards cloud, especially in North America and Europe, and the microservices concept in all banking projects is also growing,” said Godry. “The other big thing is AI tools – Gamma (ABRIS application) already has AI capabilities, so from getting all the monitoring components and reading all the data from operations, [Gamma’s] AI monitoring can also predict some of the operation happenings, so this way, banks can even prevent certain events from happening.”

“Lasty, I think blockchain is also very important, and I believe here in Cambodia, there already is a new blockchain invention as well in the banking sector,” he added, in reference to Cambodia’s Bakong payment system.

Among these new trends, cloud and microservices adoption are two areas Godry believes the Asia-Pacific region is slightly lagging behind in comparison to some of its global peers.

“The biggest challenge is really going to the cloud, going to microservices, but I believe this is also in connection with legislation,” he said. “Some countries already are allowed to go on the cloud, while some not yet. I think this is the biggest challenge here right now… I believe with AI and blockchain, [the region is] keeping up with the world, so it’s cloud where [the Asia-Pacific] needs to make more steps.”
