Clean Energy Week 2025 officially commenced on October 2, 2025, under the theme “Promoting a Clean Energy Economy.” The week-long event, organised by EnergyLab Asia in collaboration with Australian Aid and the UNDP, serves as a platform to exchange best practices, foster collaboration, and accelerate Cambodia’s transition towards a cleaner, more resilient economy.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), said:

Clean energy is no longer an alternative; it is the imperative. It is the key to unlocking our next chapter of growth, a chapter defined not by how much we produce, but by how intelligently and sustainably we produce and utilise it.

H.E. Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, stated that with effective policies, Cambodia can strengthen its economy by improving energy stability, reducing costs, and attracting responsible investment.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has been promoting the use of clean energy in factories and production, while integrating it into all industrial policies to strengthen resilience and reduce risks from fossil fuel price volatility.

Global brands have now shifted demand towards renewable and sustainable energy from their suppliers, Minister Vanndy added, citing ongoing initiatives such as the Green Industry Awards, the SWITCH Garment Project’s Model Green Factory Programme, and the development of Green Special Economic Zones as concrete demonstrations of how sustainability enhances productivity and market access.

The Minister also called for stronger public–private partnerships and continued investment in skills, research, and innovation to ensure that Cambodia builds a future-ready workforce and seizes new industrial opportunities linked to clean energy.
