On July 30, a summary and awards ceremony for the ‘BIDC & METFONE - RUN FOR A BETTER LIFE 2024’ charity fundraiser was held, with sponsorship money presented to Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital.

Running has become a popular sport for training and has integrated into the lifestyle of many within the community. Recently, the ‘BIDC & METFONE Run - RUN FOR A BETTER LIFE 2024’ officially kicked off for the first time in Cambodia, attracting nearly 2,000 athletes from across the country. The event, organised by BIDC and Metfone, utilised technology to record results online.

More than just a sports event, for every valid kilometre run in the program, the system converts the distance into a specific donation amount of 500 KHR/km (calculated based on the total kilometres completed by the athletes). All running achievements were converted to USD and donated by the organisers to Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital, with the aim of supporting the hospital's community healthcare activities.

At the conclusion of the program, the recorded kilometres were converted into nearly KHR 63 million (equivalent to over USD 15,257) in charitable donations, with more than 100,000 kilometres completed by nearly 2,000 athletes over the course of a month.

Resonating with the community, this event created positive values and achieved the goals set by the organisers. With a desire to promote a love for sports (running in particular), and the humanitarian spirit of the run, Metfone announced that it will continue to organise activities to promote sports, improve health, and work towards a better society.
