Metfone And BIDC Launch 'Run For A Better Life' Fundraising Marathon

The “BIDC & METFONE – Run for a Better Life 2024” marathon event officially kicked off at Peng Huot on June 23, 2024, with an aim to bring positive value to the community. The event was co-organised by the Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia (BIDC) and Metfone.

The “BIDC & METFONE – Run for a Better Life 2024” is a charity fundraising marathon where all running achievements will be converted into money, which will be donated by the organisers to Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital, with the aim of supporting the hospital in its community medical activities.

The marathon features two activities: the Online Run and the Offline Race. The latter served as a kickoff event for the online run. 

The offline activity took place from 6 AM to 8 AM on Sunday, June 23, 2024, covering a running distance of approximately 5 kilometres. 

For the online running program, participants can register through the BIDCRun mobile application (automatically connected to the Strava app upon registration) and freely engage in walking/running activities outdoors at any time and location.

For every valid kilometre run in the program, the system will convert the contribution amount to 500 KHR/km (calculated based on the total kilometres achieved by the participant).

Metfone and BIDC have also announced that this will become an annually organised event aimed at promoting sports and improving community health.
