HMD Asia and KS Hotels Acquire La Résidence Hotels from Belmond Including Siem Reap Location

KS Hotels and HMD Asia have announced they have acquired La Résidence hotels in Siem Reap, Cambodia and Luang Prabang in Laos - both properties were previously owned and managed by Belmond. Both locations will now be managed by HMD Asia under Executive Director Anthony Lark.

HMD Asia is owned by Cambodian entrepreneur Sokoun Chanpreda and is managed by Executive Director Anthony Lark, who previously opened and managed a number of Amanresorts properties in Southeast Asia.

La Résidence D’Angkor is currently closed for renovation and will be reopened in Q4 2025 -.The hotel is located on the riverside in Siem Reap. La Résidence Phou Vao, which is a hilltop property within the UNESCO Heritage region of Luang Prabang, Laos, will continue to operate as normal but under the new management effective November 1 2024.

Lark said. “HMD Asia is delighted to be taking over management of the iconic La Residence hotels. We feel a deep sense of honour and responsibility in managing these beautiful small hotels and we are excited to continue their legacy of service and attention to detail, while continuing to develop unique guest experiences in the future.”

HMD Asia currently operates three Shinta Mani properties (two in Cambodia and one in Nepal) which were created by designer/developer Bill Bensley; as well as the TRIBE in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; the Park Hyatt – Siem Reap, Cambodia; and in Q1 2025 will open JATI - Koh Russey in Cambodia.

A press release added that KS Hotels was established in 2007 and has developed and acquired luxury hospitality assets in Thailand, Cambodia, The Maldives, Laos and Australia, including the Park Hyatt Cambodia.
