GTC and EXIM Bank Malaysia Sign Deal To Improve Cambodian Telecommunications Infrastructure
Global Tower Corporation Pty Ltd (GTC) has secured secured US $19.97 million in financing from EXIM Bank Malaysia which will be used to help support the expansion of essential telecommunications infrastructure across Cambodia.
GTC is an independent licensed operator in the construction and provision of telecommunication tower and related infrastructure services. The financing will allow them to construct more than 400 new telecommunication towers, and when completed, it should enhance the connectivity and network coverage in urban, rural and underserved areas throughout Cambodia.
Reports indicate that GTC is a 75%-owned subsidiary of Rohas Tecnic Bhd (RTB Group), a Malaysian firm that specialises in utility infrastructure solutions, which fcusses on power and energy, telecommunications, and water and sewage sectors.
Amirul Baharom, Chairman of GTC, said: “This partnership with EXIM Bank Malaysia reinforces GTC’s commitment to improving Cambodia’s telecommunication infrastructure to bridge the connectivity gap, particularly in rural areas. By leveraging this collaboration, we are not only enhancing connectivity but also solidifying GTC’s position as a major player in this sector. We are confident that this initiative will contribute positively to Cambodia’s socio economic growth.

EXIM Bank Malaysia said that the Kingdom has one of the fastest-growing ASEAN economies and currenttly offers considerable opportunities for sectors like telecommunications, infrastructure, and green technology. The Cambodian market is thus viewed as a strategic one which has strong potential for Malaysian exporters.
A statement from the bank added, "With growing urbanisation, rising demand for digital services, and ongoing Cambodian government efforts to enhance connectivity, EXIM Bank is optimistic about the continued opportunities, particularly for Malaysian companies in telecommunications, technology, and renewable energy.
Cambodian Telecommunications

Chea Vandeth, the Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) told B2B Cambodia in an exclusive interview about the range of developments the Ministry is invlved in, including the sea cables, more towers, and that the MPTC has announced plans to add an additional 1,000 new antennas to help with the internet, introduced free Wi-Fi to the beaches in Sihanoukville, and is continuing to work towards developing Cambodia’s infrastructure capacity.
