GIZ ICONE And TUI Care Foundation Announce A Strategic Cooperation
Siem Reap-based GIZ ICONE program, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the TUI Care Foundation, a unit of the travel and tourism company, Germany´s TUI Group, have announced a strategic cooperation partnership intended to boost tourism set to launch in 2025.
This was announced at an event held in late August 2024 at the Memoire Palace Resort in Siem Reap at an event that was presided over by H.E. Neak Nee Ron, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province. The partnership aims to enhance Cambodia´s tourism ecosystem and elevate its global standing,
In his opening remarks, H.E. Neak Nee Ron emphasised the importance of such collaborations in driving economic growth and creating opportunities for local businesses. He expressed confidence that this strategic cooperation would not only bring more European tourists to Cambodia but also ensure that the benefits of tourism are felt throughout the local economy.
The cooperation is slated for a mid-February 2025 launch and it is hoped that it will draw interest from a diverse range of international tourists. The majority of Cambodia's tourists hail from Asia, but with the ongoing development of its tourism infrastructure, the country is positioning itself to attract more European visitors.
Some of the key attractions are Cambodia's rich cultural heritage, diverse history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culinary offerings which make the Kingdom ideal as a unique travel experience destination.
The GIZ ICONE project, with its expertise in venture building and private sector development, combined with the TUI Care Foundation’s focus on tourism that benefits local communities, represents a strong alliance that will significantly contribute to Cambodia’s tourism industry.
