The General Department of Taxation (GDT) has authorised Wing Bank to accept all tax payments from the public nationwide, without any additional fees, in order to offer individuals and entities greater ease in fulfilling their tax obligations.

According to a press release issued by Wing Bank, the official launch of this new feature took place at Wing Bank Tower, and was presided over by H.E. Kong Vibol, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of the GDT, Neak Oknha Kith Meng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wing Bank, and CEO of the Royal Group of Companies, along with other dignitaries.

“We are truly grateful to the General Department of Taxation for entrusting Wing Bank and allowing us to utilise our expertise in fintech to streamline tax payments for our customers,” said Bunthe Hor, Deputy CEO of Wing Bank, expressing gratitude to the GDT.

This partnership aims to assist individuals who need to pay taxes but cannot travel to the GDT office. Instead, they can visit any nearby Wing Bank branch where no extra fees will be added to the actual invoice. With 21 branches across the country, and its head office (Wing Bank Tower) located in Phnom Penh, Wing Bank is offering a more accessible tax payment option to the public.

Customers can conveniently visit any nearby Wing Bank branch and bring the minimum number of documents required for tax payment. At the taxation and public service counter, dedicated Wing Bank staff will assist customers in choosing between two payment options: paying in cash or paying via the Wing Bank App. Alternatively, customers can also choose to deposit a cheque into their Wing Bank account for payment.

Furthermore, customers have the option to pay taxes online using the GDT's mobile apps such as the GDT Tax Payer App for Property and Road Tax. After logging in, customers can navigate to the tax payment section, review their details and select Wing Bank as their payment method, completing the transaction in just a few clicks. Soon customers will also be able to pay through the GDT Tax Prefiling App and GDT E-Filing App.

As a vital component of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the GDT plays a crucial role in Cambodia's economic framework, driving tax revenue collection to support sustainable growth in the Kingdom. According to local media reports, the GDT achieved its goals in 2023, collecting USD $3.6 billion worth of taxes. In 2024, the GDT aims to further increase tax collection to USD $4.1 billion, potentially representing 11 per cent of the year's expected total GDP of USD $35 billion.
