Cambodian International Arrivals 2024
The number of passengers who have entered Cambodia’s three international airports between January and the end of October 2024 is 4.7 million, according to a report from the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA). The three international airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville have handled more than 47,000 flights in this period - which represents a 10 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
As always it's good to see the data heading in the right direction but pre-pandemic levels need to be the benchmark by which we compare growth - the SCCA is projecting a 67 per cent growth in air traffic for this year compared to 2019.
The US $1.2 billion Techo Takhmao International Airport (TIA) in Phnom Penh is due to open in 2025 and that will be the destination for the new Etihad route from Abu Dhabi in Q4 2025.
Other airlines in the region which offer flights to Cambodia include Emirates which restarted flights to Phnom Penh in 2024 (with a stopover in Singapore) before continuing to Dubai, and Qatar Airways which resumed flights in October 2023.
