Donaco strikes gold with Poipet casino
Australian-listed casino operator Donaco International Ltd, in its first full-year financial filing since acquiring the Star Vegas Resort and Club in Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet commune for $360 million in July 2015, reported revenue of $109.5 million—a seven-fold increase from the previous fiscal year ending in June.
The company’s net profit of $43 million marked its first positive gain since 2014, when it recorded a loss of over $2 million. The Star Vegas Resort and Club on the Thai border far outperformed Donaco’s Aristo International Hotel near the Chinese border in Vietnam. Earnings for the group increased 21 per cent compared with the previous year, thanks to a focus on the Thai mass-market segment.
