CanCham Cambodia Celebrates Milestone Office Opening at Connexion

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia marked a historic milestone with the grand opening of its first office at Connexion on Koh Pich on March 11, 2025. This landmark event solidifies Canada’s presence in the Cambodian business landscape and highlights the chamber’s dedication to fostering trust, collaboration, and growth for its members.
The evening was a vibrant celebration, bringing together over 150 attendees, including business leaders, Canadian expatriates, and friends of Canada. The event was graced by the Canadian Chargé d'Affaires, David Verbiwski, who delivered a powerful speech announcing the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Phnom Penh. Verbiwski also encouraged Canadians to register to vote in the upcoming election, potentially taking place in May, via Elections Canada (www.elections.ca).
Notably, CanCham remains the only female-led chamber in Cambodia, with Chairwoman Emily Yu and Vice Chair Yein Ngo at the helm. This milestone event also marked CanCham becoming the first chamber in the country to sign and adopt the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP), established by UN Women and UN Global Compact—a strong testament to its dedication to equality, sustainability, and transparency.

In her opening remarks, Chairwoman Emily Yu emphasised the importance of CanCham’s alignment with “Brand Canada,” a globally recognised symbol of trust, quality, and sustainability. “Being part of CanCham is a reflection of your business’ alignment with these values. Together, we are building a community that embodies what Brand Canada stands for,” she said.
The event was a testament to the solidarity of the Canadian community and friends of Canada during these uncertain times. Guests enjoyed free-flow craft beer provided by Himawari Hotel & Apartments, delicious food from Score Bar, and a backdrop of music featuring Canadian artists. The evening wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of ABA Bank, Manulife, OCIC, and Good Wood, with Good Wood sponsoring the office furniture.
The celebration was not just about the office—it was about the connections CanCham fosters. Through intimate, results-driven events and a focus on supporting SMEs, the chamber has created a platform for meaningful collaboration and growth. Chairwoman Yu’s speech highlighted this commitment, stating, “At CanCham, you’re not just a member—you’re part of a family that values collaboration, trust, and mutual growth.”
Attendees raised their glasses in a toast to CanCham and Canada, celebrating the chamber’s bright future. The event was a perfect blend of professionalism and fun, embodying the spirit of the Canadian and Cambodian business communities.
