According to the Ministry of Information, in 2024, Cambodia produced a total of more than 13 million tons of rice, with 50 per cent exported as paddy rice and milled rice. Cambodia consumes only 50 percent of its rice production, leaving at least 6 million tons per year available for export.

Around 80 medium and large-scale rice mills were said to have met international standards for food safety and had the capacity to dry 50,000 tons of wet rice per day, as of 2024.

The Cambodia Rice Federation has previously shared its aim to export at least 1 million tons of milled rice by 2025.
