Cambodia registered 376,507 new vehicles in the first nine months of 2025, according to a recent report from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The overwhelming majority of registrations were for motorcycles, totaling 307,814. This was followed by family and tourist vehicles at 61,631, and heavy vehicles accounting for 7,062 registrations.

Notably, 5,571 electric vehicles (EVs) were registered during the period, signaling growing momentum in the transition towards sustainable transport.

The Royal Government has prioritised policies to enhance both road safety and environmental protection. Cambodia's National Road Safety 2021-2030 framework includes measures to restrict the age of used vehicles imported into the country.

Furthermore, this national policy aims to transform Cambodia into a country with a high level of EV adoption, supporting sustainable development and public well-being.

To accelerate this goal, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has implemented tax adjustments and reductions on various types of transport, including EVs, tourist vehicles, pickups, and passenger cars, to promote the growth of the electric vehicle market.
