Cambodia Global Textile Summit 2025 to Highlight Kingdom's Strong Position in GFT Sector and Emerging Role as Strategic Sourcing Hub.

Cambodia is set to take centre stage in the global apparel supply chain with the launch of the Cambodia Global Textile Summit 2025, scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 1, 2025, at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

Organised by the Textile, Apparel, Footwear & Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC), Better Factories Cambodia (BFC), EuroCham Cambodia, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and strongly supported by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT), the two-day event will bring together government leaders, international brands, industry stakeholders, and workers' organisations to address key challenges and opportunities in one of Cambodia’s most important economic sectors.

The summit will serve as a strategic platform for industry leaders to discuss Cambodia’s evolving role in global supply chains, sector policies, and sustainability initiatives. Key discussions will focus on economic competitiveness, sustainability leadership, and Cambodia’s transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.

“This summit highlights Cambodia's strong position in the sector and serves as a platform to further strengthen competitiveness and sustainability," said Marc Beckmann, Project Director at GIZ FABRIC Cambodia. "While there has been significant progress on the sustainability front, there remains potential to further improve the sector’s social and environmental performance. Over the past 10 years, GIZ FABRIC Cambodia has been proud to collaborate with our dedicated partners from the government, TAFTAC, BFC, EuroCham and other stakeholders to shape a sustainable and competitive future for the industry.”

Massimiliano Tropeano, Sustainability and Garment Expert at EuroCham Cambodia, further added:

From sustainability to sourcing issues, logistics to vertical integration, renewable energy to circularity and due diligence, [this summit is] a truly 360 degree event that promises to put Cambodia once and for all on the map of the international sustainable sourcing landscape.

Distinguished speakers opening the summit include H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training; Albert Tan, Deputy Chairman of TAFTAC; and Kaori Nakamura-Osaka, Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, International Labour Organisation (ILO). The keynote address will be delivered by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

Key discussions will address economic competitiveness, sustainability, and the enhancement of resilience across the sector. Attendees will gain firsthand access to the latest industry insights, policy developments, and data-driven strategies designed to bolster the sector’s resilience and sustain long-term growth.

“This first Cambodia Global Textile Summit 2025 underscores Cambodia’s emerging role as a strategic sourcing hub in the global supply chains. By bringing together government officials, stakeholders, industry leaders, and international brands, the summit creates a unique platform to forge innovative partnerships and drive sustainable, responsible business practices across the sector," said Froukje Boele, Program Manager at Better Factories Cambodia.

“With strong participation from both the Royal Government and private sector, I am sure we can together overcome challenges ahead," added Ken Loo, Secretary General at TAFTAC.

With an emphasis on fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration, the summit will facilitate meaningful dialogue on regulatory expectations, responsible production, and due diligence in supply chains. The event aims to drive actionable outcomes that will shape the future of Cambodia’s garment, footwear, and travel bag industries, ensuring they remain competitive, sustainable, and aligned with global market expectations.
