Cambodia Chamber of Commerce to establish Canada liaison
After years of attempts, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will officially establish a Canada liaison in May 2022.
The Khmer Times reported that the launch of the Canadian liaison "will play an important role in promoting investment opportunities and attracting foreign investors to Cambodia."
Lim Heng, vice president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, said the liaison representatives would attend the launch event in Canada on May 27, 2022. He added, “The CCC liaison is aimed at attracting investment and promoting the new investment law, and economic policies to companies in Canada so that they can clearly understand the investment scenario and our potential."
The Ministry of Commerce has been discussing the establishment procedure for CCC’s liaison in Montreal, Canada, as well as the legal procedure of the liaison. In December 2021 the CCC established its first liaison in Sendai City, Japan and there are plans to establish further liaisons with several countries to promote investment, tourism, and culture to foreigners.
CanCham is a business association in Cambodia which promotes Canadian business linkages within Cambodia and abroad and was established in May 2015. At the start of 2021, it was due to expand its services in Cambodia.
The bilateral trade between Cambodia and Canada was valued at $954 million in 2021.
