Cambodia and Thailand Sign 7 Agreements During Thai PM’s Visit

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s visit to Cambodia on April 23, 2025, culminated in the signing of seven agreements pertaining to labour, the cross-border environment, roads and bridges, skills development, and combating scam centres at the shared border.
The agreements were signed at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Cambodia-Thailand diplomatic relations.
The seven signed agreements cover:
- The employment of workers.
- Labour cooperation.
- Transboundary environmental pollution cooperation.
- Management and maintenance of the Cambodia-Thai Friendship Bridge (Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ian).
- Construction of the new border bridge at Phsa Prum-Ban Pakard international border.
- Record of discussions for technical assistance on the detailed design of the improvement of National Road No. 57 (Battambang-Prum International Gate).
- Exchange of notes on projects to strengthen the capacity of Cambodian-Thai Skills Development Centres.

During the April 23 press conference, the Thai Prime Minister emphasised that both countries aim to boost bilateral trade from USD 10 to USD 15 billion by 2027. She welcomed the new Thai consulate in Siem Reap and the new Cambodian consulate in Thailand’s Songkhla province.
The Prime Minister added that Thailand hopes to deepen cooperation with Cambodia on security and military matters at all levels to preserve peace and stability along the shared border. She expressed her desire to collaborate in eliminating all scam centres located at the border, cooperate further in sharing information on air pollution, increase cooperation in special economic zones (SEZs) along the border, expedite developments of border infrastructure, and reduce cost of inland transport.
She noted that Thailand is the ninth largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Cambodia and reiterated support for the "Six Countries, One Destination" initiative to create a common visa for six ASEAN countries – Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, and Myanmar. She also expressed a commitment to facilitating legal employment for workers in Thailand and enhancing people-to-people cooperation, especially among youth.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and her spouse arrived in Cambodia on April 23 for an official visit from April 23-24, 2025.
