Cambodia Airports has been appointed to operate the new Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh under an agreement signed with Cambodia Airport Investment Co. Ltd. (CAIC). The move reflects strong confidence in Cambodia Airports’ three decades of operational expertise in the country, where it has played a key role in developing air connectivity since 1995.

To operate the new international Phnom Penh airport, set to open in the second half of 2025, CAIC—a subsidiary of Cambodian conglomerate, Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC)—has selected Cambodia Airports, a subsidiary of VINCI Airports, the world’s leading private airport operator.

Cambodia Airports will bring its expertise and experience to optimise operations at the large-scale airport complex, whose terminal spans over 240,000 square meters. It will deploy its airport culture of excellence in key areas such as efficiency, passenger experience, and comfort.

The operator’s scope also includes air service development aimed at boosting Cambodia’s connectivity, especially by attracting new airlines and opening new routes. With this appointment, Cambodia Airports further strengthens its legacy and shows agility in pivoting to new business opportunities.

On July 6, 1995, SCA/Cambodia Airports became concessionaire of Phnom Penh airport. In 30 years, it developed the airport to multiply traffic by 20—from 300,000 passengers in 1995, to 6 million as of today.

“We are pursuing our commitment towards operational excellence and the development of the airline industry worldwide. The continuation of our operations in Cambodia emphasises the recognition of the expertise of our teams, who play an essential role in the attractiveness of the region,” stated Nicolas Notebaert, VINCI’s CEO of Concessions.

VINCI Airports, as the leading private airport operator in the world, manages the development and operation of more than 70 airports located in 14 countries. VINCI Airports draws on its expertise as a comprehensive integrator to develop, finance, build, and operate airports, leveraging its investment capability and know-how to optimise operational performance and modernise infrastructure, while bringing about their environmental transition.

In 2016, VINCI Airports became the first airport operator to commit to an international environmental strategy, setting itself the aim of reaching zero net emissions (scope 1 and 2) across the network by 2050, while supporting the territories’ local climate transition.
