Kep, Cambodia – ART for Kep, an exciting new initiative led by Knai Bang Chatt, is set to transform the coastal town of Kep into a cultural hub through the power of art. The project aims to promote cultural tourism, support local Cambodian artists, and raise awareness about environmental conservation.

The first major installation in the series is the monumental Coral Kingdom sculpture, a stunning 5.7-meter-tall masterpiece crafted from sandstone. Designed by renowned artist Sothea Thang, the sculpture celebrates the natural beauty of Kep’s coastline and underscores the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

The Coral Kingdom also symbolises unity, bringing together local, provincial, and national stakeholders in a shared effort to highlight the region’s environmental and artistic significance. The architectural design was developed by Bloom Architects, with the sculpture brought to life through the meticulous craftsmanship of builder Mr. Vuth Pong Saravuth after extensive engineering trials.

“This sculpture is more than just a work of art—it’s a powerful symbol of the delicate balance between nature and human creativity,” said Sothea Thang. “It is a call to action for both locals and visitors to engage with and protect our oceans for future generations.”

The Coral Kingdom is the first step in the ART for Kep initiative’s long-term vision to inspire creativity, educate the public, and draw international attention to the region’s rich cultural and environmental heritage. By integrating art and conservation, this project aims to foster a sense of pride in the community and promote sustainable development through artistic expression.
