Manulife once again brings thousands of visitors to Siem Reap as the principal sponsor of the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon (AWHM) 2024. This year, the event garnered even more attention with the participation of Prime Minister Hun Manet, who ran alongside over 14,000 runners from 80 countries, achieving the event highest attendance record.

According to a press release issued by Manulife, this year’s theme,  “Where will better take you", highlighted the insurance company's commitment to helping people in Cambodia live healthier, more active lives, and contributing to the local economy.

Manulife has been the principal sponsor of the annual run through the UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014. With the support of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), Manulife once again spearheaded a fundraising campaign to support the Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC), underscoring the company’s ongoing commitment to its Impact Agenda and to empowering sustained community health and well-being, and education for children in Cambodia.

In Manulife’s 11th year of sponsoring the marathon, a total of USD 110,000 was raised through donations and Manulife’s donation matching program, bringing the company's total support for AHC to over USD 760,000 since 2015. This year’s fundraising will support AHC’s life-saving Trauma and Critical Care Centre, ensuring that nearly 1,800 severely injured or ill children in Cambodia will receive the immediate, life-saving care they need.

“I’m delighted to see over 400 Manulife staff joining runners from all over the world to participate in this year’s event," said Phil Witherington, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Asia. "As the principal sponsor of the Angkor Wat Half Marathon over the past 11 years and a long-time partner for the Angkor Hospital for Children, our sponsorship is aimed at supporting people in Cambodia to develop habits of living healthier lives and bringing economic benefit to local communities. It is a key element of our Impact Agenda, staying true to our mission and creating a better tomorrow for our business, our communities, and the planet.”
