The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Cambodia's Techo Startup Centre co-hosted a two-day workshop on September 25–26, 2025, to officially launch the Digital Adoption Initiative.

The  Digital Adoption Initiative will help hundreds of Cambodian micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digital technologies between now and 2028, boosting their competitiveness and productivity. The program will take a phased approach, focusing on one major industry sector each year, starting with tourism.

The  Digital Adoption Initiative is part of Cambodia’s broader effort to build a vibrant digital economy and society, in line with the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework (2021–2035).

The workshop brought together government officials and development stakeholders to validate the Digital Adoption Initiative roadmap and confirm implementation arrangements.

ADB Country Director for Cambodia, Jyotsana Varma, said:

The Digital Adoption Initiative will support MSMEs to integrate digital solutions into their daily operations, helping them become more competitive, resilient, and future-ready. By working closely with the Techo Startup Centre and industry associations, we aim to ensure that Cambodian enterprises can thrive in the digital economy.

Dr. Nguonly Taing, Executive Director of the Techo Startup Centre, said:

This initiative will give Cambodian MSMEs practical tools to grow stronger in the digital economy. By focusing on key sectors, we can direct resources to areas of the economy where digital solutions will have the biggest impact on competitiveness, job creation, and women’s entrepreneurship.
