ABA Bank, Cambodia's largest commercial bank, has been named Bank of the Year 2025 in Cambodia by The Banker, an international financial publication under the Financial Times Group (UK).

The award recognises ABA's strong performance, innovation excellence, and sustained contribution to Cambodia's economic development.

Digital Innovation

The Banker highlighted ABA's continued advancements to its flagship ABA Mobile app, reinforcing the bank's position as the leading digital banking provider in the country. New features such as in-app chat, FacePass Secure, the AI-assistant Navi, and enhanced Analytics tools deliver a more seamless, secure, and personalised banking experience for millions of customers. These innovations not only increase convenience but also strengthen trust and security in digital transactions.

These enhancements have already shown strong customer adoption: users exchanged more than 200,000 messages through in-app chat, while 430,000 customers interacted with Navi in its first two months.

Updates to the business digital banking platform have also driven a 50 per cent rise in transaction volumes from May 2024 to May 2025, reflecting growing reliance on ABA's digital ecosystem.

With more than 5 million customers nationwide, ABA Mobile remains a central platform for daily financial management for both individuals and businesses across Cambodia.

Green Finance

As part of its ESG commitment, ABA became the largest investor in Cambodia's first green project bond, issued by SchneiTec Dynamic to support the country's solar power infrastructure. The bond finances a 60MW solar power plant in Kampong Chhnang, expected to generate over 130GWh of clean energy annually.

This landmark investment demonstrates how commercial banks can accelerate sustainable development and contribute to a greener future.

Community Support

ABA's CSR initiatives continue to prioritise education and digital literacy. The bank partners with scholarship and educational programs – including AMT Scholarship and the Cambodia Children's Fund (CCF) – to expand opportunities for young people.

ABA also donates computers to schools and communities, helping equip students with essential digital skills needed in an increasingly technology-driven economy.

Looking Ahead

Receiving The Banker's top-notch award for the seventh time, ABA Bank reaffirms its leadership in digital finance and responsible banking.

"ABA Bank is honoured to receive this recognition from The Banker. We proudly dedicate this award, as always, to our valued customers whose trust inspires everything we do," said Askhat Azhikhanov, CEO of ABA Bank.

"This accolade motivates us to advance digital innovation, strengthen sustainability efforts, and support our communities as we help shape the future of banking in Cambodia," he concluded.

Looking ahead, ABA remains committed to elevating banking standards, increasing financial accessibility, and supporting sustainable economic growth across Cambodia.
