B2B Cambodia Market Update - 5 June 2025

This is a B2B Cambodia Market Update for 5 June 2025, reviewing the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) and global markets.

  • The Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 1.04 points, or 0.26%, closing at 407.71.
  • Total trade volume was up with 72,039 shares changing hands at a total value of 438 million riel, or over $109,000 US Dollars.
  • On the main board, three stocks were up. Leading the market today Pestech Cambodia, up 1.49% or 40 riel to 2,720 riel per share, followed by CAMGSM was up  0.41% or 10 riel to 2,420 riel per share, and Acleda Bank was up 20 riel to 6,920 riel per share. 
  • Only one stock was down for the day—Grand Twins International—dropping 1.00% or 80 riel to 7,900 riel per share. Meanwhile, the remaining [five] stocks stayed flat.
  • Over the growth board, both JS Land and DBD Engineering remained flat. 
     
  • Acleda Bank recorded the highest trade volume of the day with 52,056 shares changing hands at a total value of 359 million riel or over $89,000 US dollars, about 72% of Thursday’s trade volume. 
  • MJQ Education recorded second highest trade volume of the day with 5,223 shares changing hands at a total value of 10.5 million riel or over $2,600 US dollars, approximately 7% of June 5h’s trade volume.
     
  • In market news, Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA) reported strong financial results for 2024, with revenue rising 4.29% year-on-year to KHR347.7 billion and net profit increasing 17.06% to KHR85 billion. Total assets reached KHR3.28 trillion, up 7.93%, while total equity climbed 6.26% to KHR1.37 trillion.
  • For 2025, PPWSA aims to produce 317.05 million m³ of clean water, install 30,000 new household connections, and sell 253.64 million m³ of water. The company forecasts KHR430.7 billion in total revenue and KHR329.2 billion in expenditures.
  • In other news, Acleda Bank announced the successful coupon payment of its subordinated bond (symbol: ABC32B), issued on March 5, 2025. The payment was transferred to investors' accounts on June 5, 2025, via its designated paying agent.
     
  • Moving on to the exchange rate, the KHR to USD was stable at 4,011 riel per USD, while the USD index was down to 98.82.
     
  • Looking at global commodities, Oil prices steadied on Thursday after falling more than 1% the previous day because of a build in U.S. gasoline and diesel inventories and cuts to Saudi Arabia's July prices for Asia.
  • Brent crude futures were up 15 cents, or 0.2%, at $65.01 a barrel (by 0800 GMT.) 
  • U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude gained 11 cents, or 0.2%, to $62.96 a barrel.
  • Oil prices closed around 1% lower on Wednesday after official data showed that U.S. gasoline and distillate stockpiles grew more than expected, reflecting weaker demand in the world's largest economy.
  • Gold prices held steady on Thursday as investors awaited U.S. non-farm payrolls data due on Friday to assess the Federal Reserve's interest rate path, while global trade tensions continued to simmer.
  • Spot gold was steady at $3,373.69 an ounce, (as of 0843 GMT.) 
  • U.S. gold futures were down 0.1% to $3,397.20.
     
  • U.S. Stock futures slipped early Thursday after the Dow Jones Industrial Average  snapped a four-day win streak.
  • At the time of Cambodia’s market closing, Futures tied to the Dow  edged 11 points lower, or 0.03%. 
  • S&P 500 futures  slipped 0.12%, while Nasdaq 100 futures lost 0.17%
