B2B Cambodia Market Update - 29 April 2024

This is a B2B Cambodia Market Update for 29 April 2024, reviewing the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) and global markets.

  • The Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index fell 2.17 points to 408.32 moving closer to the 400-point level. The market is now down 8 out of the last 9 trading sessions.  
  • Volume subsided significantly from yesterday to 300,074 shares with a trading value of USD 322K, a 1/3 of yesterday’s trading value. 
  • Despite the drop in the index, the market was generally positive with most stocks advancing. 
  • The index was dragged down today by CAMGSM which lost 60 Riel per share to 2,370 Riel per Share or 2.5 per cent. CAMGSM was the volume leader with 170,528 shares trading hands, that is much heavier volume than normal. 
  • On the upside ACLEDA Bank (ABC) recovered 120 RIEL per Share to 7,560.  ACLEDA Bank is trading at half book value and a Price to Earnings Ratio of 5.38.  This stock looks like great value and certainly a buy.   
  • Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP) was 80 Riel per Share higher closing at 12,760 Riel per Share, also at close to half book value. 
  • Grand Twins International traded 70 RIEL per share higher, or 3.1 per cent, to 2,250 Riel per share, the percentage gain winner of the day.
  • Grand Twins International was in the news today.  The apparel manufacturer and exporter of such brands as Adidas, Reebok, and North Face announced it will hold its 10th General Meeting of Shareholders on 05th of June.  Shareholders of record on May 9th are entitled to attend.  The company will give a presentation on it business results and announce its dividend details, in 2023 the company distributed 46 per cent of its profit after tax, which was 40 Riel per share.  The current yield therefore is 1.8 per cent.
  • The KHR Riel to USD exchange rate weakened a tick to 4064 on a flat USD Index.  
  • The New York the DOW JONES Industrial Average posted a 146-point gain or 0.38 per cent.  
  • Brent Crude Oil is losing ground at USD 87.16 a barrel as there is hope of a ceasefire in the Israeli Gaza conflict.  
  • Gold softened to USD 2,240 per ounce.
