Once again Cambodian environment and social development will be in focus in the Meta House. Several great projects and events will give you the opportunity to get involved in pressing environmental and social issues the Cambodian community has to face everyday.
Our HIGHLIGHTS in January:
In the WILDLIFE EXHIBITION you can have a look at impressing photographs by SENGLIM SUY, CHIEB SAMNANG and TRAM LYRATTANAK alias "Mr. Green". In our GREEN MARKET you can check out green products and get information about green projects and NGOs. Among them are NATURE SAVES CAMBODIA, the HEINRICH-BÖLL-FOUNDATION, the INTERNATIONAL UNIOIN FOR CONSERVATION OF NATURE (IUCN), LIVE AND LEARN and GERES. SO!NUTRITIOUS will sell their healthy drinks, produced with social awareness.
Starting from 7pm there will be interesting PRESENTATIONS and FILMS waiting for you: At first, the U.S. AMBASSADOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL will talk about endangered species and promote Cambodia’s first wildlife concert on the 31th of January. The HEINRICH-BÖLL-FOUNDATION introduces to their social work in Cambodia showing a film about the Khmer Rouge conference 2014. Vanny Lou from IUCN will present the project Mangroves for the future (MFF) to raise the awareness of the importance of a healthy coastal ecosystem for people based in a mangrove-dependent livelihood. After that it’s up to you: Take part in the ECO-QUIZ by GERES and win great prizes. Finally the NGOFORUM will give you the opportunity to gain insight into their dedication to environmental and social development.
A special filmscreening will follow the presentations: Tom Fawthrop’s THE GREAT GAMBLE ON THE MEKONG deals with the ongoing struggles concerning building hydropower dams and its threatening impact on cambodian and southeastasian rivers and the living environment of millions of people. In addition THE HUNGRY TIDE by Tom Zubrycki will expose the effect of global warming on the oceans and the thereby developing global inequalities.
After 9pm join us in the Art Café for ELECTRIC UNIVERSE performing their ambient sounds and electric vibes, live!
