Labour Updates: Union Law and  Work Permit Applications for Foreign Nationals  In response to current labour and employment trends, Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has issued significant regulations that impact the workplace. These regulations include the Union Law and changes to the work permit process for foreign national employees. The Union Law, enacted in May 2016, provides directives that govern not only Trade Unions, but also Employer Organizations. This law outlines the code of conduct, formation and activities of unions and employer bodies. Another important change to labour regulations is the creation of the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System for the online processing of foreign national employee quota and work permits. Our interactive breakfast discussion will address aspects of the enforcement of Cambodia’s recently promulgated union law and the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System and their significance to employers and the workplace.
