Sousdey Indonesia 2025 to Promote Trade, Culture, and Education

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia will organise the ‘Sousdey Indonesia’ event for 2025 on June 14-15 at the Diamond Island Exhibition and Convention Centre in Phnom Penh. This event builds on last year’s success to promote bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Cambodia.
At a media briefing held at the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh on May 28, 2025, H.E. Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia, shared that economic and cultural cooperation has become increasingly influential for both countries.
“In trade, the exchange of goods between Indonesia and Cambodia remains strong. Last year, we saw a steady increase in trade volume, reaching more than USD 1 billion for two consecutive years,” he emphasised.
Following the successful organisation of Sousdey Indonesia 2024, which was held on September 13-14, 2024, various cultural activities by the Embassy have enhanced Cambodian awareness of Indonesia.
“To continue this positive momentum, the Embassy will once again organise Sousdey Indonesia, the biggest event of the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh,” the Ambassador stated.
He added that during Sousdey Indonesia 2024, 105 exhibitors participated, attracting more than 4,000 visitors. The event recorded retail transactions of USD 42,704 and potential transactions of over USD 2 million.

The Indonesian Embassy noted that this year’s event will continue to integrate trade and tourism promotion, featuring Indonesian arts, culture, traditional foods, and innovations in education.
For businesses, Sousdey Indonesia 2025 provides a venue to introduce products, meet potential partners, and seek business opportunities in Cambodia. It will also include thematic discussions to broaden understanding of trade and logistics regulations. Meanwhile, visitors can enjoy:

The embassy selected 53 participants for Sousdey Indonesia 2025, including 29 Indonesian and 24 Cambodian exhibitors, representing fashion and accessories, food and beverages, furniture, houseware, pharmaceuticals, and personal care.
Six renowned universities from Indonesia will also participate, opening opportunities for Cambodians to continue their studies in Indonesia.
Cambodia-Indonesia Bilateral Relations
According to the General Department of Customs and Excise, from January to November 2024, Cambodia exported USD 86.86 million worth of goods to Indonesia (up 23.1 per cent) while importing goods worth USD 915.3 million (up 2.3 per cent).
The Indonesian Ambassador added that Cambodian Senate President, Hun Sen, during his last visit to Indonesia, had urged for the trade imbalance between the two countries to be addressed. In August 2023, Indonesia agreed to buy 125,000 tonnes of rice from Cambodia and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on rice trade for up to 250,000 tonnes per year for four years.
Popular Indonesian products in Cambodia include Indomie instant noodles and Danisa cookies. The Ambassador pointed out that there is room for growth in logistics and connectivity, which can further enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly with the recent expansion of flight options.
“Cambodia is regarded as a friend. As part of the ASEAN community, [and ] there is a continued increase in Indonesians visiting Cambodia for both business and tourism interests,” the Ambassador concluded.
