Qatar Airways to Launch Direct Flights to Cambodia

During a meeting between the Regional Manager of Qatar Airways (Indochina) and the Cambodian Minister of Tourism on May 19, 2025, the airline revealed plans to launch direct flights to Cambodia and initiate promotional airfare programs to attract travelers to the Southeast Asian nation.
According to government media outlet AKP, the meeting between Boru Tilahun Ejetta, Regional Manager for Indochina at Qatar Airways, and H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, focused on tourism cooperation and plans to launch direct flights. The launch date for this project, however, has not yet been revealed.
The report added that the partnership between Cambodia and Qatar Airways would help to promote the country’s tourism destinations through various in-flight media, such as magazines, brochures, and tourism videos. Co-produced short videos will highlight Cambodia’s “Green Season” (the rainy season roughly between July and October) and Muslim-friendly tourism destinations. Siem Reap will also be one of the main destinations promoted.
Qatar Airways resumed daily flight service to Phnom Penh International Airport on October 29, 2023, after suspending operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Qatar Airways operates daily flights between Doha and Cambodia via Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Recently, China's Ruili Airlines resumed direct weekly flights from Wuxi in east China's Jiangsu Province to Sihanoukville, Cambodia, after a hiatus of several years. The first flight, carrying 126 passengers, landed at Sihanouk International Airport on May 18, 2025. The flight resumption is expected to bring more Chinese tourists and investors to Sihanoukville.
During the first quarter of 2025, a total of 1.83 million international tourists visited Cambodia, up from 1.58 million recorded in the same period in 2024, according to a tourism ministry report.
