Minister Hem Vanndy and Minister Cham Nimul jointly hosted a business matching event on 1 November to strengthen linkages between producers, distributors, and consumers, with the aim of expanding support for local product value chains.

Speaking at the event, Minister Hem Vanndy emphasised that quality and standards form the foundation for the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of Cambodian products. He called on local producers and distributors to prioritise compliance with industry standards — including metrology and laboratory testing — to ensure trust and consumer confidence.

“Supporting local products is not just about showing the spirit of nationalism through comments or posts on social media — it must be reflected in our behaviour and purchasing choices,” he said, noting that Cambodia’s current ecosystem remains fragmented, with many producers continuing to operate on a limited scale.

He further stressed the importance of better connecting the entire value chain — from growers to processors and producers, through distributors and retail networks, and ultimately to consumers — in order to achieve scale and strengthen competitiveness.

Minister of Commerce H.E. Cham Nimul highlighted the need to expand local production capacity while maintaining access to international trade to ensure diverse choices for consumers.

She also encouraged supermarkets, marts, and minimarts nationwide to provide dedicated spaces and help boost sales of Cambodian products by placing them at eye level on shelves — on a weekly or monthly basis — to increase their visibility and accessibility for consumers.

This campaign reflects the Royal Government’s strong commitment to stimulating domestic production, supporting SMEs, and expanding markets for Cambodia-made products. By establishing a regular collaboration platform — with key stakeholders meeting every three months — the initiative aims to maintain momentum, strengthen value-chain partnerships, and ensure sustained progress in boosting the competitiveness of local products.
