Our guest for Episode 3 of the 'Empowering Growth: The Women Shaping Cambodia' is Phymean Noun, Founder and Executive Director of the People Improvement Organisation (PIO).

In Part 1 of this interview, Phymean talks about what led her to starting PIO and what continues to drive her work today, recalling an impactful personal encounter that inspired her to quit her job and do something to change the lives of the children living at Stung Meanchey Garbage Dump.

She also discusses the challenges she faced running the organisation on her own personal funds back when PIO was not well-known. Things began to change for PIO when JustWorld International (JWI) first came across the organisation's website and contacted Phymean for a partnership, then came to a major turning point when she was awarded the CNN Heroes Award.

‘Empowering Growth: The Women Shaping Cambodia’, hosted by Kim Tol Tan, Founder and CEO of Grow4Growth, in partnership with B2B Cambodia, is a show which aims to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Cambodian women across various sectors.
