The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a loan of approximately USD 296.2 million to Cambodia for the implementation of two key projects.
The Exchange of Notes and accompanying documents on the loan, extended under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), were signed in Phnom Penh this morning by Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), about USD 143.5 million of the total loan will fund the Niroth Water Supply Expansion Project, while the remaining USD 152.7 million will support the Phnom Penh City Transmission and Distribution System Expansion Project (Phase 3).
“The continued financial assistance underscores Japan’s steadfast commitment to advancing Cambodia’s socio-economic development and further strengthens the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations,” the MFAIC underlined.
