ABA Bank, Cambodia’s largest commercial bank, has once again been named Domestic Retail Bank of the Year 2025 by the Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) magazine.

This is the fifth year in a row that ABA has received this prestigious regional award, recognising the Bank’s ongoing commitment to innovation, service excellence, and digital leadership in the Cambodian banking sector.

The judging panel at ABF considered many of ABA’s recent achievements. Among them was the Bank surpassing 5.1 million customers and continuing to improve its mobile and online banking platforms to better serve individual and business clients.

ABA Mobile, the Bank’s flagship app, saw several major updates last year, aimed at making banking safer and more convenient for users. New features include:

  • FacePass Secure: Cambodia’s first live facial recognition security feature in a banking app. It uses advanced technology to prevent fraud with a 0 per cent false acceptance rate.
  • In-App Chat: A first-of-its-kind feature in the country that lets users talk, send money, and confirm transactions securely within the app—helping reduce impersonation scams on social media.
  • Navi – Virtual Banking Assistant: An AI-powered virtual banking assistant designed to assist users with instant responses about ABA's products and services. It speaks multiple languages and is designed to understand natural questions, offering a human-like support experience.

ABA also continues to support businesses of all sizes. Its ABA Business online banking platform simplifies financial operations with tools like bulk payments, payroll, collection services, and cloud accounting integration. In 2024, the number of business users grew by 24 per cent, and the total transaction volume increased by 35 per cent.

Government agencies also rely on ABA to manage payments, including tax collection, utilities, and other state fees – further proof of the Bank’s trustworthiness and reliability.

“We are honored to be named Domestic Retail Bank of the Year for the fifth time,” said Askhat Azhikhanov, President and CEO of ABA Bank. “This award reflects our ongoing efforts to make banking more accessible, innovative, and centered around customer needs. Most importantly, it shows the trust our customers place in us.”

The Asian Banking and Finance magazine's editors also commented, "ABA Bank was hailed as the Domestic Retail Bank of the Year for its strong performance, leading the market in both physical and digital banking. Its flagship ABA Mobile app has become synonymous with digital payments in Cambodia. The Bank's advancements, alongside expansion in services and branch coverage, reinforce itself as a champion of financial inclusion."

With its focus on innovation and customer-first thinking, ABA Bank continues to lead the way in shaping the future of banking in Cambodia.

ABA Bank is Cambodia's largest commercial bank by assets, deposits, loans, and profitability, according to the Annual Supervision Report 2021-2024 of the National Bank of Cambodia.

The Bank's extensive footprint comprises 101 branches, 45 self-service banking locations, over 1,800 self-service banking machines, and advanced online and mobile banking platforms, providing 5 million customers with the convenience of modern and secure financial services.
